Our actions

Serving the museum’s collections

The Friends association, in close collaboration with the town of Crépy, the Regional Council, the Departmental Council, the Community of Communes of the Valois and the State (DRAC Hauts-de-France), has contributed to enriching the museum’s collections by acquiring numerous archery artefacts (bows, arrows, crossbows, souvenirs…). Recently it acquired a statue of Saint Sebastian in limewood, as well as calligraphies, garments and Japanese bows for the exhibition Kyudo, the path of the bow, which were after donated to the museum. It has also participated in the restoration of graphic works present in the collection.

Engaging with new audiences

Young visitors receive a special welcome when they come during school trips; Nevertheless, other animations are offered, which are always free. The association buys the educational material used during the fun and creative workshops at the disposal of schools, but also during special animations.

The association supports the museum by participating in the financing of its cultural program. The latter aims to satisfy the aspirations of every type of public.

A committed association

The association is present during all the major events of the museum, such as the European Heritage Days in September, and also finances shows, notably for the reopening of the museum at the end of March or the European Night of Museums.

Archers benefit from the association’s generosity. This year, it has organized a round of the European Championship  for Prehistoric Weapons (bows and propellers) in a space close to the museum, and has invited the competitors for a dinner.

Moreover, it gifts the archery company organizing the “bouquet provincial”, a big celebration of traditional archery, a statue of Saint Sebastian, which is given to the company who shot the best arrow with a straight bow.
